Visiting the monastery with and without a dog, wheelchair or baby carriage
Goettweig Abbey is a place of encounter - the monks have been striving for satisfied guests for centuries.
Here we would like to give you a brief overview of where we currently stand - and together with our staff we will also find one or two solutions that are not listed here. Just ask - we will be happy to help you!
Suitable for baby carriages and wheelchairs?
Abbey Restaurant: va long ramp leads from parking area 2 (with disabled parking) to the main entrance, the revolving door leads to the gate in the foyer. The restaurant and our restaurant terrace are also accessible via a ramp.
Foyer and toilets:see above; a toilet for handicapped visitors is available.
Baby changing room:next to the toilet facilities at the main entrance there is a separate baby changing room with washbasin and chair.
Abbey Courtyard: via the main entrance you can take the elevator up one floor to the monastery corridor, from there via a gate into the courtyard - ATTENTION: steep road in the courtyard, the gate is closed in bad weather, please report to the gate - we will be happy to unlock it and help push if necessary. There is a toilet for handicapped visitors in the courtyard. Abbey Church: via the main entrance and the courtyard, there is a ramp on the right-hand side (to the south) of the church that leads into the church.
Abbey Museum: The entrance to the museum is on the left via the main entrance and the courtyard. The museum is not barrier-free - historic thresholds to the cash desk area and a narrow historic door are an obstacle. The museum itself is not barrier-free either, as the baroque staircase cannot be equipped with a lift. A wheelchair or baby carriage can be parked in the ticket office area.
ALTERNATIVE:To get to the church and the courtyard, you can also take the access road to the south. Disabled parking spaces are also available there - directly in front of the barrier system. From there you can reach the Stiftshof via the driveway - ATTENTION: this path is also steep!
Apricot and herb garden:this can only be reached via a steep ramp, there is seating and a drinking fountain in the garden.
There is a large playground for children to the south. There is seating and a drinking fountain in the immediate vicinity.
Dogs?
Dogs on a lead are welcome in the restaurant, the corridors and the Abbey courtyard. Only assistance dogs are allowed in the museum. Dogs are not allowed in the church or the apricot and herb garden. We ask for your understanding!
